The Town of Bluffton will host the 37th Annual Beach Sweep/River Sweep on Sept.
19 at Oyster Factory Park on the May River. Volunteers will work from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and receive supplies + refreshments.
🎓 Education
Beaufort Memorial celebrated its 13th PATH program on Aug.
19 when it awarded five graduates new roles in high-demand healthcare fields; the program, which trains staff for clinical and support positions, has earned national recognition.
At Lowcountry Community Church, local leaders highlighted Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a program that sends a free book each month to kids from birth to age five + the church has donated over 150,000 books to more than 6,200 local children, sparking a love of reading in the community.
🌲 Environment
Bluffton’s Alljoy neighborhood will receive a $7.1 million sewer upgrade to replace failing septic tanks that hurt the May River water quality — the project, funded by BJWSA, the town, Beaufort County and the state, will connect 103 homes and finish between December and January.
